From the prodigies, the Yaksha Garam Masala?

In India, garam masala is used in a wide range of dishes, with or without sauce, vegetarian or otherwise. As well-known as tandoori, garam masala creates a uniform flavour in Indian dishes. To add a personal touch to kebabs, chicken tikka masala, lentil or vegetable curries, bowls or samosas, garam masala has become as indispensable as pepper or salt. In India, the spice powder or paste is prepared for each meal depending on the recipe and the type of vegetables, but having a jar of garam masala makes cooking much easier. Roasted one by one, the spices that make up this blend, such as cinnamon, star anise, cardamom and mace, add floral and sweet notes. Garam means ‘hot’ and masala means ‘blend’, a hot mixture of ground spices that gives a sensation of warmth. As chilli is not on the recipe list, this garam masala does not add any spicy flavour. Yaksha garam masala is a prodigy? Like Indian families and their secret blends, cooking prodigies love it to season their dishes just right and to concoct harmonious recipes that invite you to travel to India.

    Origin

    Sourced from single farms

Although not every Indian family divulges the secret of its own version of garam masala, it is often made with cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, pepper, coriander, cumin and star anise. Unlike curries, which include turmeric as a basic ingredient, garam masala does not. This blend of hot spices is based on several Indian garam masala recipes discovered during our farm visits. Each of the spices that make up this artisanal creation comes from unique farms in four countries: Sri Lanka for its cinnamon, Vietnam for its star anise, Bhutan for its black cardamom and India for the rest of the spices.

    About the farmers

As exceptional sources since 2018, we have embarked on a spicy adventure with passionate producers. Our precious spices come from unique terroirs where each producer uses gentle farming methods. In harmony with nature, they produce true treasures of the earth whose exceptional quality is felt right through to the plate. Some believe that healthy food is good for the body, others draw inspiration from their neighbouring farms, but all want to provide us with wild or organic spices. A magic of flavours to delight the taste buds of gourmets.
